The title of our 2003 field show is Cirque 2003.
Dear Parents, Members, and Friends,
Welcome to the 2003-2004 Norwalk High School Band, I would like to thank everyone who has assisted in kicking this year off to a great start. More
importantly, if you haven’t gotten involved, come, help, participate, and become a part of your children’s high school lives. When they graduate from high school, they will be building their own future, and that may
include you. Come to the Marching Bears general meetings and find out what you can do to help your child and the band family. The meetings will also keep you informed of all Marching Bears/Student activities.
The title of this year’s field show in Cirque 2003. Music for the show is from Overture to Candide
and Slava by Leonard Bernstein, as well as original compositions by Chris Rivera and Nick Albano. Permission to arrange Overture to Candide and Slava granted by Boosey and Hawkes.
This year’s show focus is on contemporary circus motives. The show concept is similar in structure to Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba, O, or
Journey of Man, but not a duplication of any of their material.
The Show is in eight acts
- Act I Circus Trap
- Act II Circus Bombastico
- Act III Circus Ball
- Act IV Circus Satire
- Act V EuroCircus
- Act VI X Generation Circus
- Act VII Circus Bombastico 2
- Finale Circus Trap and Release
Permeating the show are three visual concepts. The orange X representing modern day circus. The orange balls representing the humorous side of
circus. Dance representing the circus joining the modern generation.
There are signature motives of past circus melodies imbedded in the music. These motives are meant to hint at the show’s connection to the past (Barnum
and Bailey Circus).
Come join the circus of the future with the Norwalk High School Marching Band.
